Now that you have some background, please respond to one, two, or all of the following questions:
1. Should the government provide funding for embryonic stem cell research?
2. Do embryonic stem represent human life?
3. Should there be laws to regulate stem cell research?

I'm completly against embryonic stem cell research. This is because human embryos are humans and there is no extra benifit from doing ebryonic stem cell reseach than there is doing adult stem cell research. So there is no reason to do it since embryonic stem cells can often be developed by using adult stem cells.
4:25 PM
I agree with the stem cell research to a certain extent. I believe if possibly to create new cells to heal or perhaps cure disease and areas which have been paralyzed. I think trying to clone a baby is going a little far however knowing how could actually be very useful to hospitals where patients are in need of a new kidney let says. I wouldn’t want to die if there was way I could live by creating new organs through embryonic stem cell research.
12:38 PM
I think that the government should fund stem cell research. If we could cure people with diseases then that would be great. Even if a person needed to regrow muscle to regain their life back, then a lot of people with disabilites would have the chance to have a
"normal" life again.
4:21 PM
1: Adults don't make embryonic stem cells
2: Only embryonic stem cells can change into nerve and spinal tissue so there is really only one way to see the medical benifits
7:49 PM
I believe that scientists should proceed in their experiments with embryonic stem cells, under restrictions, however. I think using stem cells to help people already in trouble, people who are already living and who will have a future if cured or repaired, is a good use of embryonic stem cells. I do not believe, though, that scientists should clone humans solely because I think that people should not have the power to bring back people, or any other organisms, from the dead. And even though many speculate that adult stem cells will be usable soon, if there are people dieing because of failed kidneys, hearts, or diseases that can be cured by embryonic stem cells, than don't theses people (who are living, breathing, loving, seeing) members of society and all the world, have a right to a better, longer, life? I think that they do.
5:57 AM
I think that the government should help in any way they could because stem cells could save millions of lives. i know theres a ton of controversy on if the fetus is alive and if its murder or not, but the way i look at it is that the egg wan't going to become a person anyways and if we can use it to save someone else's life than its worth it. The government dose need to help if they can because it would make people able to be cured of anything, because they could just have new parts grown.
7:53 AM
I support embryonic stem cell research completely.
The government should provide funding for embryonic stem cell research. Stem cell research could save millions of people, from diseases, to cancer, to fatal injuries.
An embryonic stem is not a human life. As many pro-life people say, yes, it has the potential to be a human life, but having the potential to be something, and actually being something are two completely different things.
Why limit science? Over time, we've made an incredible amount of progress in science and medicine. Imagine how far we can go if we keep researching and working for cures.
9:10 AM
im not for or against stem cell research. I think that it would be great to fix things never thought possible, but on the other hand its like killing a brand newhuman being, made from a lab...
i dont think people need to do sort of an abortion that is made by chemicals and planting things into place, it makes no sense...
10:42 AM
I also am against stem cell research because I think it qualifies as human life. Obviously, I don't like stem cell research but sometimes it can be used to save lives and there are people who would obviously disagree when I say I don't think the government should fund it. I would say they should find another way to fix people, but there almost isn't another way. I guess it should be up to the patient whether they want to accept an embryonic cell.
2:26 PM
I think that stem cells should be used to heal, or repair humans but not to create humans. If the stem cell research meant the difference between life or being killed by a disease, then I think everyone would choose life...
3:59 PM
1.)I think that the government should provide funding to embryonic stem research because it could help so many people and do so many good things like help cure diseases and help paralyzed people (as the lab video showed) except this issue could get controversial because we could make full human clones. I saw a movie that related very much to this topic, The Island, in that movie rich celebraties and stars had themselves cloned and the clones lived in their own world and were manipulated on how to live, they were isolated from the real world so if the original being was hurt they could take parts that are needed to repair them from their clone.
4:48 PM
I'm against embyronic stem research, as female embyros are too precious to lose and just simply give away, when it could be a child. and failure is way too common in this new field of treatment. You are fertilizing the egg as well, which is wrong being it is now living, not in a living state per say, but it's alive. Plus we have found out, which wasn't shown the movie, that adult stem cells can be used instead of find a woman who would want to give her eggs, taking the time in order for it to possibly be wasted hundreds of time over before you get a single success.
4:59 PM
I think that the government should provide funding for embryonic stem cell research. Medical researchers anticipate they will be able to use technologies from stem cell research to treat cancer, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries, and muscle damage, as well as many others. These advancements in technology would help millions of people with their diseases. Yes an embryonic stem represents life, but it only represents the possibility of life it isn't alive. No there shouldn't be any laws to regulate stem cell research. Obviously there should be rules on who can deal with stem cells and embryos and who can't. Qualified scientists should be able to do whatever they want with the cells and embryos. I would rather put my trust in the hands of doctors and scientists than the average person who votes on the laws to regulate stem cell research.
7:28 PM
to the following:
1. Should the government provide funding for embryonic stem cell research?
2. Do embryonic stem represent human life?
3. Should there be laws to regulate stem cell research?
Even though i am for stem cell research, i do not think that the government should provide money for stem cell research but should instead focus on topics and problems currently in our society and aim to eliminate them with tax money.
Additionally, i do not think that stem cells represent human life. For i view human life as progressive, which means that i view this as a stepping stone in human life but it does not represent it. I guess that you could argue that it does represent human life as humans try and play God with creation, but that does depend on your opinion.
Finally, i do think that there should be laws to regulate stem cell research. Though the government may tamper with it maybe for future refrence or to create a super race of humans for use in war. but otherwise there needs to be a limit to what scientists should experiment with, regrowth of human internal organs, or maybe a whole human so we never get hungry?!? i dont know, but i think that there are select cases where stem cell research would benefit the human race but it needs to be limited to some extent, we don't need to be creating more humans in an already over-populated world.
8:37 PM
I agree with stem cell research. There are so many diseases that could be cured or prevented if we used stem cells. For example, diabtics could get a new pancreas cloned for them. Patients who need a new organ wouldn't have to be on a waiting list, they could just have that organ cloned for them and have it in time to keep thema live. Stem cell research is a very important thing to keep people alive.
9:24 AM
Scientistis should continue research on stem cells because when you think about all the people who suffer from diabtetes, Parkinsons etc. and how these disease could be cured, thats a very good reason to continue research. All human beings should be given a future. However, this is the only reason to continue with stem cell research.
10:02 AM
I am all for stem cell resaerch as long as its being done for good use. sure most stem cells being used are from embryos of un born kids but as long as the person giving the stem cell give concent why does it matter? plus stem cells from embryos are easier to get and there not making a kid yet there just sitting there in the egg. these stem cells can be used to save lives so why would we make modern medicine illegal? and there not perfected yet scientists are still experimenting on how to make this process work easier and faster. -KC Holmes
10:55 AM
I don't thik that the stem cells can be considered human life. even though they are alive i do not know if you could call them human yet because they are just a group of cells.
8:28 AM
I believe with a country as wealthy as the US, the government should support funding for stem cell research, people paying huge amounts of money for injuries that disable them from walking again should have the chance to get therapy and find a way for stem cells to help get them back on their feet
